The incident unfolded in the final over of RR's innings.
The ongoing IPL 2026 clash between Mumbai Indians (MI) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the Wankhede Stadium on Sunday (May 24) produced one of the most entertaining moments, involving Ravindra Jadeja and Shardul Thakur.
During the final over of RR’s innings, Jadeja’s catch off Shardul’s bowling was taken by Hardik Pandya at covers. As soon as the MI captain completed the grab, Shardul erupted in celebration, roaring in delight after thinking he had removed the dangerous Jadeja at a crucial juncture.
However, just seconds after Shardul's aggressive roar, the stadium's no-ball siren went off. TV replays confirmed that the MI all-rounder had overstepped, overturning the dismissal.
Jadeja made Shardul pay for the costly error immediately by smashing him for consecutive boundaries on the resulting free hit and subsequent delivery.
After hitting the boundaries, Ravindra Jadeja turned around with a broad grin and mocked Shardul by aggressively mimicking the exact same send-off celebration right back at him.
Despite the on-field banter, both cricketers shared a good laugh, perfectly summing up the lighthearted spirit of the moment.

Coming to the match, Rajasthan Royals racked up 205/8 in their allotted 20 overs after being asked to bat first. After Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 17-ball 27 at the top of the order, Dhruv Jurel anchored the innings with a solid 38 off 26 balls while Dasun Shanaka chipped in with a quickfire 29 off 15 deliveries.
Jofra Archer smashed a blistering 32 off 15 balls, alongside unbeaten cameos from Ravindra Jadeja (19* off 11) and Nandre Burger (10* off 3), to push RR past the 200-run mark. Deepak Chahar and Shardul Thakur bagged a couple of wickets each for MI.
The Royals are currently sitting on 14 points and must defeat MI to lock up the final playoff spot. The top three teams that have already secured their positions in the playoffs are Royal Challengers Bengaluru, Gujarat Titans, and Sunrisers Hyderabad.
