On May 21, 2026, the Gujarat Titans (GT) hosted the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at Ahmedabad's Narendra Modi Stadium. Ruturaj Gaikwad, the captain of CSK, won the toss and decided to bowl first. For CSK to stay in the running for the IPL playoffs, they had to win.

Shubman Gill scored 64 with seven fours and three sixes, while Sai Sudharsan, who scored 84 with seven fours and four sixes, was GT's top batters. Sai and Gill combined for 125 runs in 12.2 overs for the first wicket. Jos Buttler then drove GT to 229/4 in 20 overs with a 57* in 27 balls, five fours, and four sixes.

On the opening delivery of the CSK innings, Mohammed Siraj dismissed Sanju Samson, giving GT the ideal start. Matthew Short (24), Ruturaj Gaikwad (16), Urvil Patel (0), Dewald Brevis (8), and Kartik Sharma (19) all perished in a brief period of time.

Shivam Dube appeared impressive during his 47 with four fours and four sixes, but Shubman Gill's incredible catch ended his knock. GT won the match by 89 runs shortly after Dube was dismissed as CSK was bundled out for 140 runs. Mohammed Siraj, Kagiso Rabada, and Rashid Khan took three wickets each for GT.

Gujarat Titans concluded the league stage with 9 victories from 14 games and 18 points with this victory. In the IPL 2026 points table, they are presently ranked second.

The cricket fraternity was all praises for the GT team and their performances on social media, especially Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill, for their excellent batting.
