Sooryavanshi now has the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 with 579 runs to his name in 13 games.
Thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s 96, LSG had posted 220/5 in 20 overs, and RR needed to chase the total down to remain alive in the playoffs race. Viabhav Sooryavanshi smashed 7 fours and 10 sixes as he scored 93 runs. His knock and Yashasvi Jaiswal’s 43 and Dhruv Jurel’s 53* helped RR defeat LSG by 7 wickets.
Sooryavanshi unveiled a new celebration after turning fifty by using his hands to make the letter "A." When analyst Murali Kartik later questioned him about its significance, the adolescent dismissed it with indifference. In fact, he hilariously claimed that even he did not know what it meant.
When the celebration was shown on the big screen, Sooryavanshi said, “I just did it. Even in the last match, the celebration I did – it meant nothing. I just try something new in every match."
But the youngster eventually disclosed the true motivation for the gesture in a video that RR later posted.
“Ye mein apni mummy ko dedicate kiya, unka naam A se hai. Mein chahta nahi tha ki sabko bataoon kyunki mein isko continue karna chahta hoon, but actually unke liye tha. (This I dedicated to my mother. Her name starts with ‘A’ so that’s why. I didn’t want this to be known to everyone because I don’t want to jinx it.)," He said.
