IPL 2026: WATCH- Sanjiv Goenka’s standing ovation to Vaibhav Sooryavanshi; RR batter touches his feet after meeting him

Sooryavanshi now has the Orange Cap in IPL 2026 with 579 runs to his name in 13 games.

Vaibhav Sooryavanshi’s knock against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in Rajasthan Royals’ (RR) latest win in IPL 2026 on May 19 in Jaipur was not only applauded by his teammates but also by the opposition players and their franchise owner, who gave him a standing ovation.

After LSG was asked to bat first and posted 220/5 in 20 overs, thanks to Mitchell Marsh’s 96 runs, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi smashed the LSG bowlers in the chase, scoring 93 with 10 sixes and 7 fours. Yashasvi Jaiswal (43) and Dhruv Jurel (53*) provided good support as RR won the game by 7 wickets.

Sooryavanshi's whirlwind knock ensured that his team remained alive in the race for the playoffs. As he left the field after his dismissal, 7 runs short of his second century of the season, the entire crowd at the SMS Stadium stood to give him a rousing ovation.

And the cameras captured LSG owner Sanjiv Goenka also standing up, clapping, and applauding the youngster for his match-winning knock.

Later, the two had a brief interaction on the ground, where Sooryavanshi also touched the feet of Goenka and his wife out of respect.

Sanjiv Goenka also posted a message on X for the young RR batter: “The world has seen your talent. The nation sees the future in you. That’s a lot of responsibility already on very young shoulders, very able ones at that. Preserve the innocence, keep honing your brilliance, and the world will be at your feet. Prayers, aashirwad, and love for you, Vaibhav.”

RR will next play MI in Mumbai in their final league game on Sunday, May 24, and will need to win that game to qualify for the playoffs.
