Arshdeep Singh has landed in trouble over his social media videos once again.
Punjab Kings (PBKS) pacer Arshdeep Singh has sparked fresh controversy following a viral Snapchat video shared on Thursday (May 14), involving Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Tilak Varma.
The video, captured ahead of the IPL 2026 fixture between the two sides in Dharamshala, shows Arshdeep engaging in what he likely intended as playful banter, but which many social media users criticized as having inappropriate, racially insensitive undertones.
In the clip, Arshdeep addressed Tilak as “oye andhere” (meaning "hey darkness" or "hey dark one"). Following the initial remark, the left-arm quick continued the joke by asking Tilak if he had applied sunscreen.
Arshdeep then pointed the camera towards Tilak’s teammate and fellow Punjabi, Naman Dhir, referring to him as the “real noor” (meaning "light" or "glow").
While Tilak Varma initially ignored the comment and later laughed it off, the video quickly garnered negative attention on social media, with netizens labelling Arshdeep’s remarks as "racist".
This incident follows recent, stricter guidelines reportedly issued by the BCCI prohibiting players from making such videos or posting them during the tournament to maintain discipline.
Punjab Kings were reportedly expected to hold meetings with players regarding the new guidelines, with an aim to collect signed compliance documents from players and staff, ensuring all future content, including vlogs, is posted solely through official franchise channels.
