GT registered their biggest ever win in IPL, defeating RR by 77 runs.
Rashid Khan one-upped Ravindra Jadeja after Khan’s Gujarat Titans (GT) registered their biggest-ever win in the Indian Premier League, as they defeated Jadeja’s Rajasthan Royals (RR) on May 9 in Jaipur in the ongoing IPL 2026 tournament.
RR had won the toss and chose to bowl first. However, Sai Sudharsan made 55 and added 118 runs for the first wicket with Shubman Gill. Jos Buttler then fell for 13 runs, but Gill continued and made 84 in 44 balls with 9 fours and 3 sixes.
Washington Sundar made 37* in 20 balls and Rahul Tewatia made 14* in 4 balls as GT posted 229/4 in 20 overs.
In response, Ravindra Jadeja made 38 and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi made 36 as RR folded for 152 runs. GT won the game by 77 runs and moved to the second spot in the IPL 2026 points table.
Earlier in the game, Ravindra Jadeja had introduced a new celebration after dismissing Jos Buttler. After having the Englishman caught by Donovan Ferreira, Jadeja added a new twist to his well-known sword celebration by theatrically slipping his hand into his pocket.
However, after GT convincingly won the match, Rashid Khan had the last laugh when he mocked Jadeja with his own celebration. In a clever reaction to Ravindra Jadeja's "player in pocket" gesture from earlier in the game, the Gujarat Titans posted a video of Rashid emptying his pockets in joy on social media.
Rashid Khan was named the Player of the Match after taking 4/33 for GT in their win.
