The ODI series is slated to get underway on May 30, while the IPL 2026 will conclude on May 31.
Australian players will complete their IPL 2026 commitments without interruption, meaning they will not leave early for the upcoming three-match ODI series in Pakistan.
Speaking to Cricbuzz, a Cricket Australia (CA) spokesperson confirmed that about a dozen players will remain in India to fulfill their league duties.
The ODI series is slated to get underway on May 30, with May 23 being the arrival date in Islamabad, clearly overlapping with the business end of the IPL, which concludes on May 31.
Among the dozen Australians currently featuring in the IPL are Pat Cummins, Mitchell Marsh, Travis Head, Tim David, Josh Hazlewood, Xavier Bartlett, Cooper Connolly, Marcus Stoinis, Josh Inglis, Cameron Green, Mitchell Starc and Matthew Short.
The IPL 2026 league phase is due to conclude on May 24. As 6 of the 10 franchises will be eliminated by that time, many players from non-playoff teams will be free of duties for international commitments.
However, the likes of Cummins, Head, David, Hazlewood, Bartlett and Connolly are likely to remain in India as their IPL teams are favorites to make the playoffs.
Officials from Sunrisers Hyderabad and Punjab Kings confirmed to Cricbuzz that all their players, including the Australians, will not leave midway through the season.
Cricket Australia (CA) is in the process of finalizing squad selection for Pakistan ODIs, aiming to balance team requirements with the IPL schedule, ensuring minimal disruption for players involved in the league.
Rawalpindi and Lahore will host the ODI matches between Australia and Pakistan. After the series opener in Rawalpindi, the two teams will move to Lahore to play the second and third ODIs on June 2 and June 4 respectively.
