Chennai Super Kings (CSK) visited Delhi to face Delhi Capitals (DC) in the ongoing IPL 2026 tournament. This match is being played on Tuesday, May 5, 2026, at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. DC captain Axar Patel won the toss and chose to bat first.

The DC top order failed to get a big score and set a good platform. Pathum Nissanka (19), KL Rahul (12), Nitish Rana (15), Karun Nair (13), and Axar Patel (9) left DC teetering at 69/5. It was only because of the 65-run partnership between Tristan Stubbs and Sameer Rizvi that DC managed a recovery.

Stubbs made 38 in 31 balls, while Rizvi smashed 40* in 24 balls with 4 sixes as they took DC to 155/7 in 20 overs. Noor Ahmad took 2/22.

The score might have been even less had Jamie Overton and Ruturaj Gaikwad not made a mess of an easy catch of Sameer Rizvi. The incident happened on the fourth ball of the 19th over, bowled by Overton, when he got Rizvi to play a false shot.

Overton tried to go after the ball but went the wrong way and then had a miscommunication with Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad, as both the fielders left the catch for the other one, and the ball landed right in the middle of the two.

Many fans compared Overton and Gaikwad’s folly to the infamous catch drop by Pakistan’s Saeed Ajmal and Shoaib Malik, who had hilariously let go of a skier from Chris Gayle, and the moment has become one of the best catch drops in cricket history.
