Krishan Chand was struck on the face by a six from PBKS opener Priyansh Arya during a match against Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). The ball hit Chand flush on the face, causing heavy bleeding. Fellow spectators helped him before he was rushed to a nearby hospital where he received stitches near his eyebrow.
Upon hearing of the injury, Arya and PBKS co-owner Preity Zinta reached out to Chand and his family via a Zoom video call to check on his recovery, a gesture that underlined the franchise’s concern for one of its own supporters.
“I saw the video and was worried about whether it was a big injury,” Arya told Chand during the call.
Zinta echoed those concerns, admitting that she was extremely anxious after watching the clip. Chand, however, looked in good spirits and reassured both of them that he was recovering well.
Arya and Zinta then invited Chand to attend the team's upcoming home match in Dharamsala as a special guest.
“All our blessings are with you, uncle. If you can, please do come to Dharamsala for the match,” Arya said.
Zinta playfully reassured Chand that the team would provide him with a cricket helmet this time to ensure his safety in the stands. “We would love to invite you to Dharamsala. And this time, we’ll arrange a helmet for you, just in case. So that if the ball does come, you are safe and secure,” she said.
Punjab Kings are leading the IPL 2026 team standings with 13 points and a strong Net Run Rate (NRR) of +1.043 from their first 8 matches. They will next face Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium on Sunday (May 3).
