Rinku Singh made 83* to take KKR to 155 from 93/7 and helped them defeat LSG.
KKR was asked to bat first by LSG captain Rishabh Pant, who had won the toss. Thanks to Rinku Singh’s 83 and Cameron Green’s 34, KKR managed to post 155/7 in 20 overs from being 93/7 at one stage.
In response, Rishabh Pant (42), Aiden Markram (31), and Ayush Badoni (24) kept LSG in the game. Mohammad Shami hit a six off the final ball, with 7 runs needed to level the scores and take the game into the super over.
LSG only managed to score 1 run, losing two wickets, and Rinku Singh hit a four to take KKR to a win in a super over.
His fiancée, Priya Saroj, was ecstatic after the win as she was present at the stadium with Rinku’s family to watch him play. She revealed the emotional weight behind his performance, saying that Rinku really misses his father, Khanchand, and dedicated the fifty to him.
“Hum bohot khush hain. Aaj unhone (Rinku) khela hi father-in-law k liye, aaj unko hum bohot miss kar rahe hain, aur yeh unke liye hi hai, (We are very happy. Today he (Rinku) played for my father-in-law; we are missing him a lot today, and this is all for him)," Saroj stated.
Khanchand Singh, Rinku's father, lost his fight with stage-four liver cancer earlier this year. Rinku was obliged to take a temporary break from cricket during the T20 World Cup in order to attend the final ceremonies in Aligarh due to the defeat, and it is obvious that the memories still motivate him.
In addition to this, Rinku Singh’s family talked to Sunil Narine on a video call as his sister and mother praised him for his brilliant bowling performance in the super over.
