Sooryavanshi top-scored for RR in their recent loss to KKR.
Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, the 15-year-old juggernaut of Rajasthan Royals (RR), was seen in tears after his team ended up on the losing side to Kolkata Knight Riders in their recent IPL 2026 clash in Kolkata.
Sooryavanshi top-scored for RR with 46 runs in just 28 balls and added 81 runs for the opening wicket with Yashasvi Jaiswal (39). But the rest of the RR batting faltered, as they only managed 155/9 in 20 overs.
In response, despite losing both openers for ducks, KKR managed to overhaul the target, thanks to 53 by Rinku Singh and contributions by Cameron Green and Rovman Powell. KKR won their first game of the season by 4 wickets.
Despite the Rajasthan Royals keeping a good position in the top four with only their second loss of the tournament, the youthful opener was obviously emotional, appearing to bear the weight of the narrow setback on his own.
The opposition was aware of the teenager's unhappiness. In a quiet act of sportsmanship that went beyond rivalry, a member of the KKR support staff approached the young batsman. The staff member knelt with Sooryavanshi on the grass, offering a consoling hand and steadying words while the youngster attempted to calm himself.
