LSG will next face RCB in Bengaluru.
Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill won the toss and chose to bowl first. The LSG batter struggled to get some rhythm. Aiden Markram (30) was the top-scorer for LSG, while skipper Rishabh Pant made 18. LSG batters had no answer to Prasidh Krishna, who returned figures of 4/28, as LSG managed 164/8 in 20 overs.
In response, Shubman Gill made 56, and Jos Buttler made 60 in 37 balls with 11 fours as GT achieved the target in 18.4 overs and 7 wickets in hand.
Rishabh Pant made it clear that his team, LSG, just didn’t have enough runs on the board.
"See, definitely not enough runs. There's nothing; you shy away from the fact that they bowled well. I think in a wicket like this, a score like 170 to 180 is a really good score. But the wickets kept falling, and they put enough pressure on us to get those wickets going. See, definitely in a wicket like this, like I said, 170 to 180 is a good score. But at the same time, you know, you still have—there were opportunities. I wouldn't say I'm a hard guy. So, there were opportunities in the game. We just couldn't grab it enough," Pant said in the post-match conversation.
Pant was asked about the LSG batting lineup.
“See, definitely it's a great lineup. But the tournament has just started here. We're not putting pressure on players because, especially the senior guys, they know what to do. Yeah, there are times when you want to perform and you just can't. But at the same time, you know, the trust and belief in the camp are enough. And we know it's going to come soon enough. It's always positive," he concluded.
LSG will next face Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) on April 15 in Bengaluru.
