Rashid Khan took three wickets for GT, while KL Rahul scored 92 runs for DC.
Shubman Gill and Jos Buttler led the way for GT after Sai Sudharsan fell for 12 runs. Gill made 70 with 4 fours and 5 sixes, while Buttler roared back to form with 52 in 27 balls with 3 fours and 5 sixes. The duo added 80 runs for the second wicket.
Washington Sundar then added some valuable runs, hitting his maiden IPL fifty, scoring 55 runs as GT posted 210/4 in 20 overs.
DC’s response was swift, with Pathum Nissanka (41) and KL Rahul adding 76 runs in 8 overs for the first wicket. However, Nissanka’s wicket brought a flurry of dismissals as Nitish Rana, Sameer Rizvi, Axar Patel, and Tristan Stubbs all fell for single-digit scores.
Rahul carried the DC batting with an excellent knock of 92 runs with 11 fours and 4 sixes. After his dismissal, David Miller kept DC in the game, hitting 23 runs in the 19th over against Mohammed Siraj.
With 13 needed off the final over, Vipraj Nigam hit a four off Prasidh Krishna before his dismissal, while Miller hit a huge six to bring the equation down to 2 runs in 2 balls. Everyone thought the game was done and dusted as Miller was on the strike.
He and Kuldeep went for the single to tie the game, but Kuldeep was run out thanks to Jos Buttler’s direct hit at the striker's end.
This decision of David Miller to refuse a single on the second-last ball came to haunt DC as they lost the game by 1 run and gifted GT three easy points. For GT, Rashid Khan was the star with 3/17, destroying the DC middle order.
The cricket fraternity reacted to GT’s one-run win, and all discussed David Miller’s decision to refuse the single and level the scores.
