Mohammad Shami registered figures of 2/9 in 4 overs for LSG against SRH.
Rishabh Pant, captain of the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), won the toss and elected to bowl first on a very good pitch in Hyderabad. SRH made two changes to the XI, adding Liam Livingstone and Harshal Patel, while LSG made one change, replacing Anrich Nortje with M Siddharth.
Sunrisers Hyderabad's Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head opened the innings, while the LSG skipper handed Mohammed Shami the new ball.
Mohammed Shami gave LSG a significant advantage as he accounted for both the dangerous openers, Abhishek Sharma, for a duck, and Travis Head, for 7 runs. It was an exceptional spell from Shami, who finished with 2/9 in 4 overs.
Prince Yadav then struck, dismissing SRH captain Ishan Kishan for 1 run, and Digvesh Rathi accounted for Liam Livingstone for 14 runs. Only Heinrich Klaasen with 62 (5 fours, 2 sixes) and Nitish Kumar Reddy with 56 (3 fours, 5 sixes) and their 116-run partnership saved SRH major blushes.
However, once they were dismissed, SRH only managed 156/9 in 20 overs. Apart from Shami, Prince Yadav and Avesh Khan also took two wickets each.
Sanjiv Goenka was present in the Uppal Stadium, and the camera panned onto him when Mohammad Shami removed both SRH openers for cheap. He cheered passionately for his team and even pulled out a picture of his deity, seeking blessings after Prince Yadav dismissed Ishan Kishan, giving LSG three cheap wickets.
