Ravi Bishnoi took his IPL career-best 4/41 for RR against LSG in IPL 2026.
Former India spinner R Ashwin talked about Rajasthan Royals (RR) spinner Ravi Bishnoi and stated that he thought the leggie from Rajasthan would go for INR 10-12 crores in the IPL 2026 auction. This comes after Bishnoi took 4/41 in RR’s win over Gujarat Titans on April 4.
With this IPL best haul of his, Ravi Bishnoi has 5 wickets in 2 games and also holds the purple cap for most wickets in IPL 2026. Ashwin added that it is time to give Bishnoi some credit, especially after the leg-spinner received harsh criticism for his efforts with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the previous season.
Ashwin further chastised the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) management for their handling of the spinner last season, claiming that Bishnoi should have easily received an offer of more than Rs 10 crore in the 2026 auction.
"It is time to give him credit. He has the purple cap now, the cap looks good on his head because he had a challenging season with LSG last year. He was not even traded after that; he was just put back into the auction pool. I was so sure that he would go for 10-12 crores, and that did not happen," said Ashwin on his YouTube channel.
Ashwin criticised CSK for signing Rahul Chahar (Rs 5.2 crore) over Bishnoi, withdrawing from the bidding war for the latter at Rs 5.8 crore. RR subsequently capitalized on the hesitancy, purchasing the current Purple Cap holder for Rs 7.2 crore.
"CSK pulled out at 7 [5.8] crores, because they were saying that there is not much difference between Ravi Bishnoi and Rahul Chahar. The way LSG handled him, that is why Ravi Bishnoi's stock value dipped. I am eagerly waiting to see Ravi Bishnoi's comeback as Ravi Bishnoi 2.0," he added.
Bishnoi has 77 wickets in 78 IPL games at an economy of 8.21 and best bowling figures of 4/41. His best season was with LSG in IPL 2023, where he took 16 wickets in 15 games.
