IPL 2026: British broadcast engineer found dead in his Mumbai hotel room- Report

The police have registered a case of accidental death.

Tragedy has struck the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL 2026) after a 76-year-old British national working as a broadcast engineer was reportedly found dead in his hotel room in Mumbai.

According to the PTI story, the deceased has been identified as Ian William Langford, who had been staying at the Trident Hotel since March 24 for IPL match coverage. According to the authorities, Langford went back to his room on March 29 after finishing his duties for the day's match.

On March 30, after several calls to the hotel reception went unanswered, staff members went to check on him. After receiving no reaction from inside the room, hotel workers entered with a master key and discovered Langford lying on the floor, according to officials.

Officials from the Marine Drive police station said an accidental death case has been registered, and further investigations are continuing to determine the exact cause. The abrupt death has hampered continuing IPL operations in Mumbai.
