CSK will begin their IPL 2026 on March 30 against RR in Guwahati.
Every time he makes an appearance, there will inevitably be shouts, commotion, hoots, and yells of "Dhoni! Dhoni!" and this was the case when he took the stage.
Beyond the thrill, supporters still want to see the 44-year-old play in every IPL season. Everyone was wondering if Dhoni would retire after the 2026 Indian Premier League when the event got underway. The former skipper, who won five titles with the Chennai Super Kings, gave a faint indication.
Hosting the event, actor Sivakarthikeyan asked: “Are you going to retire? But you said 'definitely not, ' and expect the same answer every year. You can play till you turn 60.”
With a smile, Dhoni replied: "It's very difficult".
Sivakarthikeyan added: "With your fitness, it's easy, I think".
Dhoni replied: “It is very difficult. It is on the way down, not on the way up. But I will try.”
The crowd exploded in enthusiasm when Dhoni responded, "I will try," to tremendous applause.
Sivakarthikeyan then said, "We have got the answer".
