Rishabh Pant is the captain of Lucknow Super Giants IPL team.
Rishabh Pant, captain of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), has begun his training for the IPL 2026 under the watchful eyes of the legendary Indian all-rounder and 2007 T20 World Cup and 2011 ICC World Cup winner Yuvraj Singh.
Rishabh Pant was bought for a record INR 27 crores and scored only 269 runs in the IPL 2025 season, his lowest tally since his debut in the Indian Premier League. Pant's statistics would have been significantly worse if he hadn't scored a century late in the competition.
The LSG team appeared out of sync last season, finishing seventh in the competition. Their heavy-hitting batting lineup helped them win six games, but the club lacked the bowling depth to defend totals.
Meanwhile, his disappointing IPL performance coincided with his departure from the Indian white-ball team. Despite winning the T20 World Cup in 2024, Rishabh Pant is no longer considered for India's ODI and T20I teams. In ODIs, KL Rahul is the first-choice keeper, and in T20Is, Sanju Samson and Ishan Kishan alternate behind the stumps.
On the other hand, Yuvraj Singh has mentored the likes of Abhishek Sharma, India Test and ODI captain Shubman Gill, and PBKS opener Prabhsimran Singh.
It seems like Pant has turned to Yuvraj Singh to turn his fortunes around, as the Test vice-captain needs a resurgence in his white-ball career, with his competitors raving far ahead of him.
