Sarfaraz Khan was bought by CSK franchise for INR 75 lakhs in IPL 2026 auction.
Sarfaraz Khan shared a heartfelt story on his Instagram account, thanking the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for buying him in the IPL 2026 auction and giving his IPL career a new life. The MS Dhoni- featured side bought the Mumbai batter for his base price of Rs 75 lakh, following the batter's red-hot form on the domestic circuit.
Sarfaraz scored 73 off 22 balls in a Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy match barely hours before the auction. After going unsold in the first rounds, Sarfaraz eventually found a bidder in CSK, who signed him as their sixth pick in the auction.
Taking to Instagram, Sarfaraz thanked CSK for giving his career a "new life."
"Thank you so much, CSK, for giving me new life," Sarfaraz captioned a video on his Instagram story.
Sarfaraz’s last IPL appearance came for the Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. So far, he has scored 256 runs from six innings in this year's Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy at an average of 64.00 and a strike-rate of 182.85.
Apart from them and Sarfaraz, CSK also bought Akeal Hossein, Matt Henry, and Rahul Chahar. They had already traded in Sanju Samson from RR instead of Ravindra Jadeja and Sam Curran before the IPL 2026 auction.
