The IPL 2026 auction is currently taking place in Abu Dhabi.
The IPL 2026 mini-auction, currently taking place in Abu Dhabi, has seen some franchises breaking their banks to fine-tune their squads for the one final time before the league's 19th edition.
While Cameron Green set a world record as he was roped in by KKR for Rs 25.20 crore, making him the costliest overseas player ever in any franchise competition across the world, CSK signed uncapped Indian players Prashant Veer and Kartik Sharma for a record bid of Rs 14.20 crore each.
Sri Lanka's Matheesha Pathirana was fetched by KKR for Rs 18 crore. However, top names like Liam Livingstone, Prithvi Shaw, and Sarfaraz Khan have gone unsold.
The auction is currently in the accelerated round, where Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman emerged as the costliest buy so far as KKR snapped him for Rs 9.2 crore.
As the acceleration round progressed, some more players managed to secure handsome deals. One of them was leg-spinner Rahul Chahar, who was bought by CSK for Rs 5.20 crore. His base price was 1 crore.
Australia’s Josh Inglis, who was released by PBKS last month, found a new home in LSG. The Lucknow-based franchise signed the wicketkeeper-batter for Rs 8.60 crore, which nearly four times more than his base price of Rs 2 crore.
Another Aussie player to obtain a decent deal was Ben Dwarshuis, who entered the auction with a base price of Rs 1 crore and was roped in by PBKS for Rs 4.40 crore.
