Cameron Green is the most anticipated player in IPL 2026 auction on December 16.
Green is regarded as one of the most promising all-rounders in the world. He has the technique and range to play as a specialist batter in any format, as well as the ability to bowl at 140kph. The main disadvantage of his unique skill set is the strain it puts on his body, which makes him prone to injury.
Green had spinal surgery in 2024, which required extensive rehab. He returned to competitive cricket as a specialist batter, gradually increasing his bowling burden.
“I’ll be good to bowl," Green said before Australia’s training session in Adelaide on Sunday morning.
“I don’t know if my manager would like to hear this, but there was a stuff-up on his end. He didn’t mean to say ‘batter’. I think he accidentally selected the wrong box. It was pretty funny how it’s all played out, but it was actually a stuff-up on his end,” he added.
Green was initially signed by the Mumbai Indians for Rs. 17.50 crore in 2023 and then traded to the Royal Challengers Bengaluru for the same fee the following year.
Many predict he would be the most expensive player in this auction, potentially approaching Rishabh Pant's 2025 price tag of Rs. 27 crore. Green also indicated that he would be watching the IPL 2026, which would be held on December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
“I’m sure I will be [watching], with a few other guys. They’re always good fun to watch. It’s a bit of a lottery where you might go, but also who might be in your team, so it’s always been fun to watch," Green said.
Notably, under IPL rules, regardless of auction bids, only Rs. 18 crore will be paid into Green's account, as this is the highest amount any Indian player will earn in a year.
