KKR co-owner Shah Rukh Khan paid a heartfelt tribute to Andre Russell after the West Indies all-rounder hung up his boots from the IPL on Sunday (November 30).
Russell called time on his 14-year career in the league as he was released by KKR ahead of the IPL 2026 auction, scheduled for December 16 in Abu Dhabi.
While announcing his IPL retirement, Russell also confirmed that he has taken up a new role as part of KKR's backroom staff for the new season.
Taking to ‘X’ (formerly Twitter), Shah Rukh thanked Russell for all the good memories in purple and gold. The Bollywood icon also explained the new Power Coach role for Russell at KKR.

Andre Russell played a total of 140 IPL matches, amassing 2651 runs at a blistering strike rate of 174.18. With the ball, he picked up 123 wickets at an impressive average of 23.28.
While representing KKR, Russell racked up 2593 runs and claimed 122 scalps, cementing his legacy as one of the franchise’s greatest all-round performers. He also bagged the IPL’s Most Valuable Player twice — in 2015 and again in 2019.
