Sanju Samson has decided to part ways with RR and CSK want to build towards future after Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals are reportedly seriously pursuing the trade for Sanju Samson moving to the Tamil Nadu-based franchise and, surprisingly, the Jaipur-based franchise getting Ravindra Jadeja in return ahead of the IPL 2026 auction.
Cricbuzz reported that Samson and Jadeja both cost INR 18 crores; therefore, the transaction might have been finalized by now. The report further stated that RR is not agreeable to a straight trade. It's thought that the team is demanding the addition of another player, which might end up being the focus of contention.
In addition to maintaining open lines of communication with teams like the Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Kolkata Knight Riders, the RR management is also thought to have tapped a few other teams, like the Sunrisers Hyderabad.
The dealbreaker between CSK and RR, as reported, is that RR is demanding the inclusion of South African Dewald Brevis in the trade as well. Brevis had joined the CSK franchise midway through the IPL 2025 tournament. He is also considered one of the most talented young batters in the world.
Manoj Badale, the UK-based primary owner of the Rajasthan Royals who is now stationed in Mumbai, is in charge of the discussions. However, it is understood that the Chennai Super Kings are adamant that they will not include another player in the sale, let alone Brevis.
According to the CSK team, giving up Jadeja, who is undoubtedly one of the best cricketers in the world right now, is a huge deal. However, it is understood that the organization conferred with the 36-year-old experienced all-rounder before beginning trade talks. Currently, the ball is in the RR court.
Coming to Sunrisers Hyderabad, they are not too interested in Sanju Samson, as they possess three established players in Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, and Ishan Kishan in their ranks. According to franchise sources, they have no plans to break ways with Ishan or Heinrich Klaasen, as has been widely speculated.
