Virat Kohli took on the challenge of facing Arshdeep Singh in the nets ahead of Ranchi ODI.
Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma are all set to make India comeback in the three-match ODI series against South Africa, starting on November 30 in Ranchi.
The two stalwarts have been fine-tuning their skills in the nets ahead of first ODI, leaving no stone unturned in preparation.
During the nets session at JSCA International Stadium, Kohli took on the challenge of facing Arshdeep Singh. The veteran batter produced an excellent aerial shot as the left-arm quick bowled on the shorter side.
India wicketkeeper-batter Rishabh Pant was left in awe after witnessing Kohli's intensity in the nets session and appreciated the talisman from behind the stumps.
“Bhai ji, acha ball tha yeh. Tagda maar diya. (Brother, it was a good ball. What a shot),” Pant was heard saying as the BCCI shared a video of the moment on social media.
Having retired from T20Is and Tests, Rohit and Kohli have now become one-format players for the national team. They last played for India in the ODI series against Australia last month. The Australia tour marked their return to international cricket for the first time since Champions Trophy 2025 triumph in March.
While Rohit returned with scores of 8, 73, and 121* in three games, Kohli bagged two successive ducks before scoring 74* in the series finale.
On the eve of the first ODI against South Africa, India’s stand-in captain KL Rahul spoke about the importance of having senior players like Kohli and Rohit in the squad.
"Their importance at any point is huge. To have senior players in the team obviously makes the dressing room feel a lot more confident. Just having their presence and experience helps out a lot of players in the dressing room and helps out the team. So, we're really happy that they're here," Rahul said in the pre-match presser.
