Hardik Pandya suffered a quad injury during the Asia Cup 2025 tournament.
Ace India all-rounder Hardik Pandya, who missed the Asia Cup 2025 final and upcoming Australia ODI and T20i series due to a quadriceps injury in the continental tournament, is set to spend four weeks at the BCCI Centre of Excellence (CoE) in Bengaluru for rehab.
Pandya suffered a quadriceps injury in India’s Super Fours game against Sri Lanka in the Asia Cup and missed the final against Pakistan in Dubai on September 28.
Now, a report has stated that the elite all-rounder will not require surgery for his quadriceps injury and has already begun his recovery under the supervision of the BCCI's medical staff. The 32-year-old entered CoE last week but took a few days off for Diwali celebrations.
He began training on Wednesday, determined to recover full match fitness for the series against South Africa. The medical team established a timeframe for his return last week, and the initial assessment revealed no serious issues.
As a result, Pandya wasn’t named for the Australian tour, and India batting coach Sitanshu Kotak highlighted how his absence is a big loss.
"Someone like Hardik is always a big loss. But if we look at the positive side, Nitish is getting some game time, and we're trying to groom him. Every team needs an all-rounder, and we’re trying to develop him in that role. So, it's good preparation in that way. But yes, any team would miss a player like Hardik,” Kotak said ahead of the 2nd ODI vs. Australia in Adelaide.
India's three ODIs vs. South Africa start on November 30, and they will be followed by five T20Is.
