Sanju Samson enjoys massive fan following in his hometown, Kerala.
Team India members have touched down Thiruvananthapuram for the fifth and final T20I against New Zealand, slated to be held on Saturday (January 31).
With the action shifting to Kerala, all eyes will be on local star Sanju Samson, who has ardent fan following in this part of the country.
Upon landing at the airport, India skipper Suryakumar Yadav joked about giving a VIP treatment to Samson.
In a video shared by the BCCI on social media, Suryakumar was seen clearing the path for the wicketkeeper-batter. The Indian captain also added a humorous touch, saying: “Don’t disturb Chetta. Make way for him."
While Suryakumar kept on cracking jokes, Samson reacted with a broad smile, enjoying the warm reception and the playful banter from his skipper.
Here’s the video:
Sanju Samson has struggled with the bat in the ongoing T20I series against New Zealand, producing paltry scores of 10, 6, 0, and 24. With the T20 World Cup 2026 around the corner, he will be keen to make amends in the fifth and final T20I against the Kiwis at his home ground.
