Rahul played a pivotal role in India’s tense four-wicket victory over New Zealand in Vadodara ODI.
During India’s training session in Vadodara, the venue for the recently held first ODI against New Zealand, wicketkeeper-batter KL Rahul shared words of wisdom with the aspiring cricketers.
In a video shared by the BCCI on social media, the 33-year-old can be seen answering questions from the budding players.
One youngster asked about what to do when chances are scarce. Rahul's message was to keep working hard and be prepared for when opportunities come.
“You will definitely get a chance to show your talent, whether it’s in a domestic, international, or local tournament. You just have to work hard and be ready when your opportunity comes, and grab it with both your hands. As a cricketer, it’s the only thing we can do," Rahul was quoted as saying in the video.
“It’s a difficult phase for everyone when we do not get a chance, but everyone has to go through that phase. No one can stay at the top forever. There will be anger and frustration, but try to snap out of it and do what is in your control, and leave the rest to God. Whenever God gives you a chance, use it wisely," he added.

Chasing 301 to win, the Men in Blue found themselves in a spot of bother at 242/5 when all-rounder Harshit Rana joined Rahul at the crease. Rahul played cautiously, contributing to a 37-run stand with Rana, who scored the bulk of the runs.
After Rana’s dismissal, Rahul stitched a 27-run partnership with Washington Sundar. He took most of the scoring responsibilities, hitting consecutive boundaries and a six in the last three balls of the penultimate over to take India home with an unbeaten 29 off 21 balls.
Rahul will be back in action on Wednesday (January 14) as India face New Zealand in the second ODI of the three-match series in Rajkot.
