Sarfaraz Khan’s father Naushad and brother Musheer were left shocked after the Indian batter bagged a four-ball duck on Day 2 of the third Test against New Zealand at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai.

Coming into bat at No. 8, the right-hander was dismissed by the Kiwi left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel as he edged one into the gloves of wicketkeeper Tom Blundell.

Following his dismissal, Sarfaraz’s family members looked visibly upset in the stands. The cameras caught the reactions of his father and brother as the Mumbai lad made the long walk back towards the dressing room.

After his knock of 150 in the second innings of Bengaluru Test against New Zealand, Sarfaraz Khan failed to make a mark in the second Test in Pune, returning with scores of 11 and 9.

Sarfaraz failure on Saturday (November 2) prompted former India pacer Dodda Ganesh to question his skills against spin bowling.

Taking to social media platform X, Ganesh wrote: “Apparently Sarfaraz is a good player of spin. Can’t make sense of his dismissals to spinners #INDvNZ”.

Earlier in the day, the hosts resumed their innings on 86/4 with Shubman Gill (31*) and Rishabh Pant (1*) at the crease.

While the duo of Gill (90) and Pant (60) went on to score half-centuries, other batters failed to step up as India’s first innings folded for 263.

Ajaz Patel starred with the ball for the visitors, registering figures of 5/103 in 21.4 overs to restrict India’s first innings lead to 28 runs.
