The second Test between India and New Zealand got underway at the MCA Stadium in Pune on October 24, 2024. New Zealand, who led the three-Test series 1-0, won the toss and chose to bat first.

New Zealand made one change to their playing XI, as Matt Henry was replaced by Mitchell Santner due to a glute injury. On the other hand, Rohit Sharma revealed that Kuldeep Yadav, KL Rahul, and Mohammed Siraj had been dropped and in their places, Washington Sundar, Shubman Gill, and Akash Deep had been selected.

While Tom Latham fell early for 15, Devon Conway (78) and Will Young formed a solid platform with a 44-run partnership. However, R Ashwin removed all three batters, but then Rachin Ravindra showed why he is considered a star of the future.

Ravindra scored a brilliant 65 and was scoring his runs comfortably, negotiating all three spinners well. His end came thanks to an excellent delivery by Washinton Sundar.

With many arguing if Washington was the proper choice, the off-spinner proved his doubters wrong, possibly producing the ball of the match thus far to defeat Rachin Ravindra.

Washington Sundar delivered an incredible ripper, and only this type of delivery could have gotten the better of Rachin, who appeared to be doing nothing wrong until that point.

Sundar bowled around the wicket and got the ball to drift in. The delivery then veered significantly. Ravindra, who is left-handed, attempted to go forward but was unable to cover it with his front foot.

As a result, he was squared up, and the ball clipped the off stump, finishing his 65-run innings. Washington was noticeably ecstatic as he sprang into the air in celebration.
