India was bowled out for 46 after winning the toss and choosing to bat in Bengaluru.
Indian team completely capitulated against New Zealand on day 2 of the ongoing first Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru. After the first day was rained out, India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first.
The overcast conditions and moisture in the pitch helped New Zealand pacers a lot. Matt Henry picked 5/15 and Will O’Rourke took 4 wickets as India was bowled out for 46 runs. This was India’s lowest Test total at home and against New Zealand.
However, this is not a new event for the Indian team; they faced the same destiny in Adelaide against Australia in 2020. India had scored 36 runs against Australia in the Pink Ball Test.
Ajinkya Rahane, India's former vice-captain and captain, was also involved in that horrific show. Rahane, who last played for India in the finals of the World Test Championship 2023, is fighting to regain his place in the Indian team.
Rahane has been sidelined by the Indian Test team for nearly a year. Just seconds after India was rocked by New Zealand's speed attack and bundled out for 46 runs, Rahane shared a video of himself batting in the nets. More than the video, the time of the post is grabbing eyeballs.
He captioned the video, 'Ready to Strike'.
