This is India's lowest Test total at home.
Team India had an extremely poor outing in the first Test against New Zealand when the play began on day 2 in Bengaluru.
India captain Rohit Sharma won the toss and decided to bat first despite the heavy cloud cover and moisture on the pitch. The New Zealand pacers Tim Southee, Matt Henry, and Will O’Rourke made merry as India was reduced to 10/3 in no time.
Only Yashasvi Jaiswal (13) and Rishabh Pant (20) reached double figures, while Virat Kohli, Sarfaraz Khan, KL Rahul, R Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja scored ducks for India. India was bowled out for 46 runs in 31.2 overs.
For New Zealand, Matt Henry picked 5/15, while O’Rourke took 4/22. This was India’s lowest score in Tests in India and their 3rd lowest Test score ever.
The cricket fraternity was left stunned by this batting display by India and shared their reactions on social media.
