Kohli’s form has been a major topic of discussion ahead of the Champions Trophy.
The star batter hasn’t registered a big score since his unbeaten hundred in the Perth Test against Australia last November.
While Kohli didn’t feature in the first ODI of ongoing series against England in Nagpur due to knee issues last week, he was dismissed for only 5 runs in the second game in Cuttack on Sunday (February 9).
With the Champions Trophy around the corner, former Sri Lanka skipper Arjuna Ranatunga has suggested Kohli to seek help from the Indian greats.
"I think what Kohli needs to do is speak to people like Sunil Gavaskar, Dilip Vengsarkar or a Rahul Dravid. That's what he can do. They can certainly help him out," Ranatunga told The Telegraph.
The 1996 World Cup-winning captain, however, refused to comment on Virat Kohli's future in international cricket.
"For a player like Kohli who has scored so much of runs, I feel it's best if that's left to him. It's a call that Kohli needs to take, so let him take it. Why always have the spotlight on him? It's quite unnecessary I feel. It's his decision, so let him take that," Ranatunga remarked.
"Given their stature and the kind of batsmen they have been, I feel it's a matter of one good innings to regain their rhythm. Let's see."
While Kohli failed to make a mark in the second ODI, Rohit Sharma returned to form with a dazzling century. Former England skipper Kevin Pietersen reckons that one good innings will change their fortunes.
"Former players, who are working as commentators, often say that a struggling player needs one good shot to return to form, but I think it is a matter of one good innings. Players like Virat and Rohit would like to win a match for their country rather than playing good strokes," Pietersen said.
"If a player is able to remain not out, he can say that his form has returned. Virat and Rohit would want to raise their arms to thank the fans for backing them. Everyone is hitting sixes these days, but as a player, you want to win matches."
