Jonny Bairstow and Shubman Gill were involved in a war of words on Day 3 of the fifth and final Test between India and England in Dharamsala.

After the end of the 16th over in England’s second innings, the cameras caught Bairstow having a heated exchange with Gill.

The England cricketer reminded the Indian batter of his dismissal earlier in the Dharamsala. Gill was knocked over by a peach of a delivery from veteran pacer James Anderson when he was batting on 110.

“What did you say to Jimmy about getting tired and he got you out after that?” Bairstow asked Gill.

In reply, Shubman reminded the England star of his poor showing in the ongoing series as he said: “So what, it was after hundred. How many have you got here?”

Irked by Gill’s comment, Bairstow took a dig at the Indian batter’s record in England. “How many have you got in England?” he shot back.

Amidst the verbal spat between Bairstow and Gill, it was Sarfaraz Khan's comment via stump mic that went viral on social media.

Sarfaraz was heard saying, “Abe thoda sa run kya bana liya series me, jyada uchhal raha (roughly translated to: ‘You have started jumping a lot after making few runs in the series’)”

Soon after the verbal duel, Kuldeep Yadav dismissed Jonny Bairstow. The England batter looked in terrific touch as he scored 39 off 30 balls with three fours and as many sixes before being trapped in front of the stumps by the wrist-spinner.

Earlier on Day 3, the hosts were bowled out for 477, securing a significant first-innings lead of 259 runs. At the time of writing this article, the visitors were 139/6 in their second essay, with Joe Root (43) and Tom Hartley (19) unbeaten in the middle.
