India completed an amazing win by 434 runs in the third Test against England on day four in Rajkot’s Niranjan Shah Stadium on February 18, 2024. With this brilliant and dominating win, India went 2-1 up in the 5-Test series.

But Yashasvi Jaiswal and Sarfaraz Khan added 172* runs for the fifth wicket in a blazing partnership. Jaiswal resumed his innings on 104 after retiring hurt on day 3 due to a back niggle.

Jaiswal continued his good form and posted his second double ton in the series and made 214* with 14 fours and a world record equaling 12 sixes. Sarfaraz Khan aided him well with 68* with 6 fours and 3 sixes. India declared its second innings on 430/4.

England needed 557 runs to win the Test and it was also an examination of their bazball approach. Many waited with bated breath to see how England batters go about their task. However, the response was anticlimactic as the Indian bowlers ran through the England batting lineup.

Mark Wood was the highest scorer with 33 in 15 balls, while Ben Foakes and Tom Hartley made 16 runs each. None of the top order went past 11, while skipper Stokes made 15 runs. The batters didn’t go for aggressive shots as they normally did and their defense was breached nicely by Indian spinners.
