India leveled the series 1-1 with a 106-run win over England.
Set 399 runs to win the Vizag Test, England resumed on 67/1 on day 4. But the Indian bowlers kept the pressure on the England batters right from ball one. Zak Crawley was dismissed for 73 runs and other batters contributed runs, but the big knock didn’t come.
R Ashwin hurt England badly as he picked the wickets of Ollie Pope (23) and Joe Root (16) adding to his last evening scalp of Ben Duckett. It was Jasprit Bumrah who rattled the England batting lineup.
He took the wickets of Jonny Bairstow (26), Ben Foakes (36), and Tom Hartley (36) to finish with 9 wickets in the match. England was bowled out for 292 runs and India won the second Test by 106 runs to level the series 1-1.
After the win, India batter Yashasvi Jaiswal looked back at the victory, and his innings and he also praised Jasprit Bumrah for his performance.
“Wonderful feeling, really enjoyed the game. One of the best moments to win a game for your country. We were just focusing on our process, focused on our fielding and I think it went well. (On pitch) There was a bit of crack and there was some seam movement, so it was a bit hard to play in the fourth innings. (Difference in white ball and red ball) It is very different, in these games, I try to play till the end, and in the white game I go for it from the first ball and have an intent to score.
(On Bumrah) The way Bumrah bowled was incredible, it was coming too fast at the slip cordon too. (On second innings batting) My intent was the same, I wanted to play out the new ball and build my innings,” Jaiswal said to official broadcasters.
The third Test will be played at the Saurashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Rajkot after a gap of 10 days, from February 15 onwards.
