India batter Shubman Gill ended his poor run of form in Tests and scored his third Test century on day 3 of the ongoing second Test against England.

India had scored 396 runs in the first innings after Rohit Sharma won the toss and chose to bat first. Yashasvi Jaiswal was the best batter scoring 209 runs with 17 fours and 7 sixes to his name. For England, James Anderson, Rehan Ahmed, and debutant Shoaib Bashir picked three wickets apiece.

Zak Crawley then top-scored with 76 for England in their first innings of 253 runs. For India, Jasprit Bumrah was the pick of the bowlers with 6/45. He also completed 150 wickets in Test matches. Kuldeep Yadav took three wickets as well.

However, in the Indian second innings, James Anderson removed both the openers of the Indian team for cheap as Rohit Sharma was out for 13 and Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 17 runs. But Shubman Gill, who was under pressure for his poor run of form, came to the rescue.

He first added 81 runs for the third wicket with Shreyas Iyer, who made 29 runs. Gill then added 89 more runs with Akshar Patel for the 5th wicket. He went on to hit his third Test century in 132 balls hitting 11 fours and 2 sixes in his knock.

This knock was a huge one for Gill as there were murmurs of him being dropped if he failed this Test as well. He had not scored a century since the Ahmedabad Test last year and there was no fifty from his bat for the last few matches.

As he completed a brilliant century, Shubman Gill was solemn and emotional in his celebration.

Though he looked good for a big innings, Shubman Gill fell into the trap set by Ben Stokes. He tried to hit a reverse sweep but was out caught by the keeper after the ball hit the glove and ballooned up. He was dismissed for 104.

However, the cricket fraternity was all praises for this amazing knock by Shubman Gill and lauded him on social media platform X.
