Shreyas Iyer and Shubman Gill added 81 runs for the third wicket.
Indian second innings resumed on day three with James Anderson causing huge damage, as he removed both openers. Rohit Sharma was clean bowled by an excellent delivery for 13, while first innings hero Yashasvi Jaiswal fell for 17 runs, edging to the slips.
Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer then came together and added 81 runs for the third wicket and the duo looked solid. However, Iyer, on 29, mistimed an aggressive shot off Tom Hartley.
The ball traveled towards the long-off boundary. However, skipper Ben Stokes sprinted around 25 yards from his position at mid-off and executed a perfect dive for the catch that initially looked seemingly impossible.
The dismissal was harsh, indeed, for Iyer, who is known for his prowess against spin bowling. This innings also became part of his struggles with scores of 31, 6, 0, 4*, 35, 13, and 29 in his last seven innings.
