England beat India by 28 runs to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series.
Former England captain and well-known commentator Michael Vaughan said that India fell into the bazball trap and rated Ben Stokes and his team’s victory in Hyderabad as their best in Test cricket.
England made a stunning comeback and won the first Test by 28 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad to take a 1-0 lead in the five-match Test series in India.
After the Ben Stokes-led England cricket team’s remarkable win in Hyderabad, Vaughan stated that it was the touring side’s top Test win during his involvement in English cricket.

Michael Vaughan wrote in his column for The Telegraph: “Look at what England have overcome. India are one of the finest Test teams ever at home. The wicket had a real turn. And England had a first-innings deficit of 190 runs.”
He added, “India has never lost a Test at home when conceding such a big lead - it’s really incredible what England have achieved. It is the best win full stop – at home or away – in all the time I have been involved in English cricket.”
Vaughan further mentioned that the BCCI might reconsider the type of pitches they prepare for the upcoming Test in Vizag.
He further added, “Again and again, we’ve seen captains really struggle when confronting the Bazball tactics for the first time in a series. India has become the latest team to fall into that trap.”
Vaughan signed off by saying, “I still think India are favorites to win the series because they will react. But India will be second-guessing themselves about what pitches to prepare.”
