R Ashwin’s fielding lapses proved costly for Team India in the ongoing Hyderabad Test.
Indian off-spinner R Ashwin showcased his bowling brilliance in the ongoing opening Test against England at the Rajiv Gandhi International Cricket Stadium in Hyderabad.
Ashwin bowled a mesmerizing delivery that completely outfoxed England skipper Ben Stokes during the second innings. However, moments after this magical delivery, Ashwin faced fielding lapses, causing frustration for left-arm spinner Ravindra Jadeja and the Indian cricket team.
In the 44th over of England's second innings, Ollie Pope elegantly flicked a delivery through wide mid-on. Ashwin, attempting to chase the ball, faltered, and despite his efforts, the ball slipped past him, resulting in a boundary for Pope.
The frustration continued in the 50th over when another fielding mishap from the senior off-spinner occurred. A delivery from Jadeja saw Pope execute a powerful sweep shot through the midwicket.
Ashwin, stationed at mid-on, and substitute fielder Rajat Patidar, positioned at deep midwicket, both ran towards the ball without proper communication. Well, the lack of coordination allowed the ball to escape their grasp, rolling away to the boundary ropes.
Ashwin’s fielding lapses proved costly for Team India, as Pope (148*) has already completed his century and continues to trouble the bowlers to push England to a respectable total to defend in Hyderabad.
