A statistical report reveals Indian wicket-keeper Wriddhiman Saha is the best wicket-keeper in the world among active players.

Indian skipper Virat Kohli had said that ‘Wriddhiman Saha is the best wicket-keeper in the world at the moment’, a few months back. A report from CricViz proves the statement. The data analysis website calculated the number of catches taken by the wicket-keepers and Saha topped the list.

According to the calculations, Saha successfully takes a catch 96.9% times a batsman nicks it behind the stumps. He is followed by Sri Lanka’s Niroshan Dickwella who pouches 95.5% of the catches that come his way.

Saha is currently playing in the Test series against South Africa in place of Rishabh Pant. Pant is ranked 9th on that list with 91.6%. Although Saha has been picked on the basis of his performance behind the stumps and with the bat, he has not been able to show results in the latter part.

He scored 21 runs off 16 balls in the first innings of the first Test when India needed quick runs and has not got an opportunity to bat since then. He took 2 catches in the first Test and 2 more in the first innings of the second Test. It is likely that he will continue to be in the XI for the third Test as well unless Kohli decided to give Pant a chance.

Wriddhiman Saha has taken 77 catches and affected 10 stumpings in 33 Tests so far.
