Surya will have an opportunity to surpass Malan’s record tally in the third T20I against New Zealand.
Suryakumar reached 910 ratings on the back of his 47-run knock in the first T20I of the ongoing series against New Zealand. He now remains within touching distance of Dawid Malan’s all-time record for the highest-ever ratings achieved by a batter in T20Is.
Yadav played a more composed knock of 26* in the second T20I of the series. As a result, the dashing right-hander dropped back to a total of 908 rating points.
Surya will have an opportunity to improve on his record and surpass Malan’s all-time tally of 915 rating points in the third and deciding match of the series in Ahmedabad on Wednesday (February 1).
Suryakumar Yadav had claimed the top ranking for current batters after scoring a total of 239 runs from six matches at last year's ICC Men's T20 World Cup and only last month was deservedly named the ICC Men's T20I Cricketer of the Year.
In the updated T20I rankings, a host of New Zealand players have made notable gains. Kiwi opener Finn Allan has moved eight places to 19th on the list for batters, while Daryl Mitchell jumped nine spots to 29th overall following his unbeaten half-century in the opening match against India.
Black Caps all-rounder Mitchell Santner has made the most eye-catching move, advancing two places to ninth overall in the list of bowlers and rising five spots to 23rd in the all-rounders’ chart.
