Amidst huge anticipation, India and England faced each other in the series-deciding third ODI in Pune on Sunday (March 28).

Invited to bat first in the all-important clash, the hosts piled up 329/10 in 48.2 overs on the back of half-centuries from Rishabh Pant (78 off 62 balls), Shikhar Dhawan (67 off 56 balls) and Hardik Pandya (64 off 44 balls).

Mark Wood was the stand-out bowler for England, claiming 3 wickets by conceding 34 runs in his 7 overs.

In reply, England were reeling at 200/t at one stage before all-rounder Sam Curran turned the match on its head with a fabulous knock. He added 57 runs for the 8th wicket with Adil Rashid (19) and followed it with a 60-run stand with Mark Wood (14).

Needing 14 in the final over, Wood got run out on the first delivery while T Natarajan conceded only 6 runs to seal the deal for India. Curran eventually remained unbeaten on 95 off 83 balls (9 fours and 3 sixes) as England finished on 322/9 in 50 overs, falling 7 runs short of the target.

Shardul Thakur (4-67) and Bhuvneshwar Kumar (3-42) took seven wickets between them, helping India to clinch the ODI series 2-1.

Cricket experts on Twitter lauded Team India for holding their nerves in a must-win game while they showered rich praise on Sam Curran for his remarkable knock.
