England suffered a 36-run defeat at the hands of India in the series-deciding fifth T20I.
In the all-important clash, India piled up a massive 224/2 in 20 overs on the back of Virat Kohli’s 52-ball 80* and Rohit Sharma’s 34-ball 64.
With the ball, the home team restricted England to 188/8 in their allotted 20 overs. Pacers Bhuvneshwar Kumar (2-15) and Shardul Thakur (3-45) shared 5 wickets between them.
"Playing against a strong Indian team in their conditions was fantastic. Another fantastic game today. India outplayed us in big moments and deserved to win. We've played some good cricket through the series too. So lots of positives for us. We bat quite deep, and we tend to take advantage of that," Morgan said at the post-match presentation ceremony.
"Big moments in this series came when we weren't able to take advantage of that with our middle order. Always feel we have the talent in the changing room to give it a crack. Today wasn't our day. One of our huge plusses has been the powerplay bowling in most games. Have to commend Adil Rashid for taking on the new role. Gives us a new option," he added.
At one stage, England well on course to chase down the total as Jos Buttler (52) and Dawid Malan (68) put on 130 runs for the second wicket, but as soon as the duo got out, the visitors lost the plot and ended up losing the match.
With this defeat, England conceded the five-match T20I series 3-2 to India.
