Suryakumar Yadav finally got a chance to bat in an international match after being included in the Indian playing XI for the fourth T20I against England at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. India is trailing the series 1-2 and needs to win this match to stay alive in the series.

Eoin Morgan won the toss and as usual, chose to chase. Rohit Sharma opened with KL Rahul and hit a six off the first ball of the match bowled by Adil Rashid. But he was dismissed for 12 runs, caught and bowled by Chris Jordan.

This brought out Suryakumar Yadav, who is playing his second T20I, at no.3 and he celebrated the occasion with a six off the first ball he faced, a 143 kph screamer from Jofra Archer, for a six over fine leg. He continued in the same vein and scored his maiden T20I fifty- 57 in 31 balls with 3 sixes and 6 fours.

He had previously hit Sam Curran for a scoop six in the 14th over and the next ball he tried to repeat the shot, was caught by Dawid Malan at fine-leg. However, the catch was pretty contentious as the ball looked like touching the ground after bursting through Malan’s fingers.

The on-field umpire sent the decision to the third umpire, with the soft signal being out. The third umpire, Virender Sharma couldn’t find solid proof of the ball touching the ground despite multiple replays. Finally, he decided to stick with the on-field decision and Suryakumar was sent packing.

This led to quite a few reactions from everyone on social media and even the cricket fraternity was not happy with the TV umpire’s call and shared their views of Twitter.
