Team India wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik while praising Ishan Kishan’s fearless approach said that Team wants somebody like Kishan at the top of the order who can put pressure on the bowlers.

Ishan Kishan had a dream debut in the second T20I between India and England. The left-handed batsman opened the innings for India and smashed 56 runs off 32 balls and helped Team India level the series 1-1.

After India lost Kl Rahul in the first over, Ishan Kishan batted brilliantly and stitched an important 94 runs partnership with skipper Virat Kohli, who scored an unbeaten 73.

During the course of his innings, Ishan Kishan became only the second Indian batsman after Ajinkya Rahane to hit a fifty on his T20I debut. The southpaw was awarded player of the match for his blistering knock.

IND v ENG 2021: "Loved Kishan's fearless approach, not easy to bat this way on debut," says Laxman

Speaking to Sky Sports alongside England speedster Stuart Broad, Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik said that Ishan Kishan’s ability to hit big sixes irrespective of what ball is being bowled sets him apart from others.

"His ability to trust himself to hit those big six irrespective of the ball being bowled is what sets him apart and that's what a power player is. You want somebody like that at the top of the order who can put pressure on the bowlers. He put pressure from ball one on Jofra," Dinesh Karthik told Sky sports.

Karthik lauded the shrewd tactics by the Indian fast bowlers. He remarked that the pacers were so effective in their use of slower ones that off-spinner Washington Sundar felt like bowling faster than them.

"[Impressed by] just how clever they were towards the back end of the innings. Just bowling cutters. The fastest bowler on display was Washington. The off-spinner seemed to bowl a lot faster balls and the fast bowlers seemed to bowl a lot of off cutters. So, they were very clever about it, they had good game plans and the wicket helped them in abundance," he said.

Over some period of time, there have been talks about winning the toss defines the result of the match. When asked about the same, Dinesh Karthik said that despite batting, teams also need to practice a lot about winning tosses.

"I think both the captains, in spite of the batting, need to practice a lot about winning tosses. I think that's going to be a critical factor. 6:30 seems to be the time a lot is decided." he concluded.

Both India and England will square off each other again in the third T20I in Ahmedabad on 16th Match, with the series level at 1-1.
