IND v ENG 2021: Indian team fined for slow over-rate in the second T20I against England

India has leveled the 5-five match T20I series 1-1.

The Indian team had defeated England in the second T20I of the five-match series being played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on March 14, 2021. Virat Kohli’s men beat England by 7 wickets to level the series 1-1.

However, their victory has been soured a bit after the Men in Blue were docked for slow over-rate by Javagal Srinath of the ICC Elite Panel of Match Referees.

"In accordance with Article 2.22 of the ICC Code of Conduct for Players and Player Support Personnel, which relates to minimum over-rate offences, players are fined 20 per cent of their match fees for every over their side fails to bowl in the allotted time," said the ICC in a statement on Monday.

"Kohli pleaded guilty to the offence and accepted the proposed sanction, so there was no need for a formal hearing," it added.

On-field umpires Anil Chaudhary and K.N. Ananthapadmanabhan, and third umpire Virender Sharma leveled the charge.
