Laxman also hailed India's amazing bowling performance against England on Sunday.
Former Indian cricketer VVS Laxman heaped praise on the pacer Bhuvneshwar Kumar for his brilliant bowling in the second T20I of the ongoing five-match T20I series against England on Sunday (March 14) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The 31-year-old had been out of the Indian cricket team for a long time due to a string of injuries but he has finally made comeback to the international arena in the first T20I on March 12, although, he went wicketless in India’s loss against England in Ahmedabad.
However, the seamer made an impressive comeback in the second T20Is as he picked up his first international wicket in more than 15 months after sending back Jos Buttler in the first over of the game on Sunday and finished with the figures of 1/28 in his quota of 4 over in Ahmedabad.
As Bhuvneshwar looks to coming back to his best in white-ball cricket, Laxman lauded the seamer for troubling England with his variations and the knuckle-balls in the second T20I that India won by 7 wickets to level the ongoing five-match T20I series in Ahmedabad on Sunday.
Laxman said on Star Sports: “Today we saw that Bhuvneshwar Kumar, who is making a comeback and knows how to bring in the variations, bowling the knuckle-ball in the second over itself because he knew there was not much swing on offer and if you change your pace you can maintain pressure on good batsmen as well.”
He further added, “Jos Buttler's wicket was brilliant because the batsmen come under pressure when they lose wickets in the first six overs.”
Meanwhile, the legendary batsman further lauded all Indian bowlers including Bhuvneshwar for their amazing bowling performance in the second T20I against England, saying all the bowlers adjusted according to the prevailing pitch conditions in Ahmedabad.
The 46-year-old further noted, “It was a good toss to win for Virat Kohli and Team India. But it is necessary to execute as well. Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur, and the spinners, all the bowlers bowled according to the pitch conditions.”
Laxman signed off by saying, “We saw a lot of cutters and slower ones. The change of pace were all short-pitched balls, they didn't bowl them too far ahead and in the arc. This was not a flat wicket like the first match but overall it was an amazing bowling performance from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Shardul Thakur and the other Indian bowlers.”
