Jharkhand batsman Ishan Kishan, who has made quite a name for himself in the IPL, playing for the Mumbai Indians, made his India T20I debut against England on March 14, 2021. This was in the second T20I between India and England played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

England leads the series 1-0 and this time, India won the toss and chose to field first.

Despite 46 from Jason Roy and contributions from Eoin Morgan (28) and 24 each from Dawid Malan and Ben Stokes, England managed 164/6 in 20 overs. Washington Sundar and Shardul Thakur took 2 wickets each.

India had a new opening pair in Ishan Kishan and KL Rahul, but Rahul fell for a duck in the first over to Sam Curran. But then Ishan and Virat Kohli took the attack to England bowlers and added 94 runs in 9 overs.

Kishan slammed 4 sixes and 5 fours, becoming only the second Indian to hit a half-century on T20I debut after Ajinkya Rahane in 2011. He tried to keep the momentum going but fell LBW to Adil Rashid for 56 in 32 balls.

The cricket fraternity was in awe of Ishan Kishan’s batting and the way he bludgeoned the England bowlers. They took to Twitter and lauded the young left-hander.
