India made 124/7 in first T20I.
Incidentally MI captain Rohit Sharma was rested for the first T20I between India and England, which was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Eoin Morgan won the toss and chose to field first.
His decision was justified by his bowlers as India’s top three fell for single-digit scores- KL Rahul (1), Shikhar Dhawan (4), and Virat Kohli (0). Rishabh Pant made 21, while Hardik Pandya contributed 19 runs. But it was Shreyas Iyer, whose 67 in 48 balls with 8 fours and 1 six helped India to 124/7.
For England, Jofra Archer was the pick of the bowlers with 3/23.
This was not enough for Michael Vaughan, as he felt that India played worse than a T20 league team, like Mumbai Indians, who have won the IPL multiple times.
“The @mipaltan are a better T20 team than @BCCI !!! #JustSaying,” Vaughan tweeted.
However, as soon as Vaughan tweeted this, Former India opener Wasim Jaffer gave him a sick burn in reply. Jaffer, known for his sarcastic and funny wit, replied to the former England captain kindly.
“Not all teams are lucky enough to play four overseas players Michael,” Jaffer pointed out to Vaughan.
