Indian skipper Virat Kohli, while talking about the remaining two Tests between India and England, said that Team India’s focus is solely on winning the last two Tests and is not thinking about the ICC World Test Championship points table at present.

The ongoing four-match Test series between India and England stands level at 1-1, with visitors winning the first Test match by 227 runs and Virat Kohli-led side bouncing back to register a 317-run victory in the second Test at the Chepauk Stadium in Chennai.

However, the remaining two Tests will be important for both India and England in the context of the ICC World Test Championship.

India needs to win 2-1 or 3-1 to qualify for the final of the ICC World Test Championship. While England has to beat India by a margin of 3-1 to face New Zealand in the final.

IND v ENG 2021: ‘Not really bothered by what pink ball might bring to the table’, Virat Kohli ahead of 3rd Test

Conversing about Team India’s qualification scenario for the final of the inaugural edition of the ICC World Test Championship, Indian skipper Virat Kohli said that team’s focus is solely on winning the last two Tests.

"You can't play for those kinds of reasons. We are not looking to win one and draw one, we are looking to win both Tests. For us, these are two games of cricket and we are solely focused on. What it does afterward is a conversation for later," Virat Kohli said during the virtual press conference.

Kohli said that Team India is currently concentrated on the pink-ball Test without too ahead of themselves.

"In the present moment we are preparing for tomorrow, we are ready for the grand five days wanting to win a Test match for India then move on to the next one," he said.

Kohli further said that their main focus is at the present and are not bothered about what lies ahead in the future.

"One day at a time is something we have followed for years and there is no point running far ahead going into the future. You have no idea what's gonna happen so we will focus on what's in the present moment," he concluded.

The remaining two Tests will be played at the New Sardar Patel Stadium in Motera, Ahmedabad.
